Pune : Defending champion Pankaj Advani on Aug 30 started his campaign on a winning note, defeating Amit Lath on straight frames on the opening day of the men's National Senior Billiards Championship.
Title favourite Advani was on a roll, potting the ball all around the table skillfully to outplay Amit 3-0 in the 100-up format in an hour-long battle at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana Club. Eight-time world champion Geet Sethi also secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over D Raj Kumar in the best of five frames battle.
In other matches, India's number two snooker player Saurav Kothari outclassed Pamin Shah 3-0, while Devendra Joshi defeated Sumesh Turki by an identical scoreline.
