Ludhiana : Traditional fervour marked Teej celebrations at Khalsa College for Women on Aug 6. The campus reverberated to the beats of drums. Students presented songs depicting Punjabi culture that left the audience spellbound. Girls attired in traditional outfits performed folk dances as well.
Students and the staff presented a colourful cultural programme. The main attractions of the festival were gidda, ghori, tappe and various folk songs. Several competitions were organised, including rangoli and students were seen enjoying the swings. Raman, a student of BCA-II of Khalsa College, said, "It is a great time for us to enjoy traditional eateries such as maal poore, applying henna and wearing traditional attires and performing dances."
Echoing a similar view, Raman's friend Chinnu said, "These festivals should be celebrated with fervour as one remains connected to one's roots." Many stalls, including food and jewellery, were also set up on the campus. Radcliff School also celebrated Teej on Aug 6. Tiny tots presented a colourful programme. A scene of rural Punjab attracted students. They enjoyed sawan specialties such as mal poore and kheer during the function.
