But this time, sisters prefer pearl Rakhis for their brothers whereas the toy Rakhis are available in the market for the brothers in playing age. In fact, there are Rakhis available in the market costing more than Rs 2,100.

"Sisters are going to the markets to choose the best Rakhis for their brothers. It is the sweetest festival, I have two brothers and have come to select the most beautiful Rakhis for them," said Rishma.

"Those sisters, whose brothers are working at far away places, would not be able to be come back home on the day of Rakhis, are shopping to send them through post," said a shop owner in Ghumar Mandi.

Going for the pearl Rakhis, women are shopping for different forms available in a price range of Rs 20 to 200. Pearls, embedded in different colourful threads are attracting the buyers, said shopkeeper Ravinder, in Model Town market.

However, all the brothers are not letting their sisters do Rakhi shopping on their own. Brothers, still in age to play with the toys are coming with their sisters for the shopping and insisting their sisters to buy one with toys.
