 Lucknow : Noted Shia cleric Kalbe Sadiq on Aug 8 said that the month of Ramzan would begin on coming Thursday. A press release issued on his behalf said, "According to internationally renowned observatories and reliable experts in astronomy, the moon of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak shall be sighted on August 11. Hence it is certain that this year, the month of Ramzan shall commence from Thursday, August 12."
The release also added that going by the same astronomical calculations; the moon for Eid-ul-Fitr shall be sighted on September 10 which means that Eid would be celebrated on September 11, 2010.
It may be noted that Maulana Sadiq has been making such announcements since the past several years to avoid confusion over such an important occasion.
