New Delhi : In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, KV Thomas, minister of state for agriculture, consumer affairs, food and public distribution, informed that so far the government had allocated about Rs79.14 crore for spices production in the country.
"Under two important centrally sponsored schemes, namely National Horticulture Mission (NHM) and Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan states (HMNEH), the agriculture ministry aims to boost spices quality and productivity," he said.
According to the official data, the agriculture ministry has spent around Rs 93.78 crore, Rs 11.79 crore, and Rs 88.51 crore in fiscal 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2019-10 respectively across the country.
Further, he also said that the ministry had adopted a holistic area based differentiated cluster approach for development of horticultural crops including ginger.
