Allahabad : Hectic activities were noticed in old localities of the city for the coming month of Ramzan. People were seen on rooftops to catch the first glimpse of Ramzan moon. However, moon was not visible till filing of the report.
Many people were seen trying to figure out the moon at Jama Masjid situated at Chowk. Numerous people after offering the Maghrib prayers reached the rooftop.
Hectic activity was witnessed in the market where people made a beeline for purchasing different products. Considerable crowding was seen in the markets of the Old City where people were seen making purchases. The shopkeepers too have decked up their shops to allure the customers. They stuffed their shops with all types of products to sell in the entire month.
In Chowk area, some shopkeepers were seen preparing soothpheni and sewain. The sale of the twin products increases considerably in the month of Ramzan. Special types of dates especially imported from Arabian countries were also seen in the market. People were seen purchasing dates which are an important item for breaking the holy fast.
