Mumbai : Mercure, the mid-scale brand of Accor Hospitality, which opened its first hotel in Bengaluru in 2009, recently opened third Mercure in Lavasa, Maharashtra. However, this is the first international hotel to open in Lavasa. Mercure Lavasa is the 101st Mercure property in Asia Pacific. The recently opened, Mercure Lavasa is targeted to leisure clientele.
Mercure Lavasa with 130 keys has a multi-cuisine restaurant, Celebration and Zen Bar. Owned by Lavasa Corporation Limited, the project is funded by Celebration Group and managed by Mercure brand of Accor Hospitality. The investment for this project is Rs 37 crore.
Jean-Michel Cass‚, Senior Vice President, Operations India, Accor Hospitality said, "We look forward to develop brand 'Mercure' through management contracts in India and will help individuals and small groups in managing their hotels."
In addition, plans are afoot to re-brand, Mercure Bangalore as Grand Mercure Bangalore. Located at Koramangala and targeted to corporates, Mercure Bangalore has 126 rooms. Cass‚ informed, "After we opened the hotel, we realised that it was greater than our expectations, the rooms are huge and hence, we decided to re-brand it as Grand Mercure, since it fits into our Grand Mercure standards. Moreover, the hotel has long staying guests and Grand Mercure encompasses hotels and apartments in prime cities and locations."
Philip J Logan, General Manager Delegate, Bangalore Hotels India, Accor Hospitality said, "The re-branding of the hotel will be completed in another four weeks. The hotel has 75-80 per cent average occupancy throughout the year."
