New Delhi : As the nation observes the 130th birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand on Jul 31, a number of theatre groups have lined up a series of plays based on the literary legend's works across the country including in his ancestral village in Varanasi.
Mumbai-based Ideal Drama and Entertainment Academy (IDEA) have made elaborate arrangements for the occasion. The group, which started the 'Aadab Main Premchand Hoon' series in 2005, will stage 54 plays on the writer's stories during the 10-day-long 'Prem Utsav 2010' from August 1 in Mumbai.
IDEA's head Mujeeb Khan, a theatre activist writing and directing plays on social issues since the past 28 years, said, "On Munshiji's birthday tomorrow we are staging three plays 'Sawa Ser Gehoon', 'Mandir Masjid' and 'Qatil in the city'". IDEA is in its fifth year of celebrating its annual drama festival Prem Utsav.
