NFDC to host co-production market during International Film Festival of India

National Film Development Corporation Ltd (NFDC) will organise co-production market as part of the Film Bazaar at the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in 2010.

The initiative undertaken by NFDC aims to offer selected filmmakers the opportunity to present their feature film projects (in all languages and at any stage of production) to co-producers, bankers, funds, sales agents, distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers from India and abroad, a press release issued in Mumbai said.

The co-production market at Film Bazaar presents to the world feature-length (75 mins or more) fiction projects that are Indian stories. At Film Bazaar, these selected projects receive the opportunity to be pitched by their representatives to potential collaborators for finance, distribution and artistic support through one-to-one meetings, it said.

NFDC has invited applications from filmmakers to participate in co-production market if seeking for international partner to participate in their project in any aspect like locations, composers, artists or technicians and if an experienced filmmaker is looking towards reaching world cinema markets/audiences.

A film maker can even apply if the film qualifies for co-production status under one of the international co-production treaties signed by India, the release said. The Film Bazaar selection committee will screen the applications and select deserving 10 projects for the 2010 edition.

Applications will be accepted till 30th September, 2010 at the NFDC offices, the release said. The main criterion for selection is that the film must be original, authentic and balance an Indian story with a universal theme.

Films at the stages of anywhere between development, preproduction or production, as long as there is a producer attached to the project, are eligible to apply, it said. Film Bazaar is only open for feature-length fiction (75 mins and above) and non-fiction films with potential for theatrical distribution.

Short film or TV documentary submissions will not be accepted. Only projects intended for theatrical release will be accepted for the Co-production market, the release said.
