Jodhpur : Finally, classes for the new session of the premier institutions of technology (IIT) and fashion designing (NIFT) began on Monday after the orientation programmes were over on Jul 31 in Jodhpur.
The IIT classes began at the newly constructed section at the north block of the MBM Engineering College at the computer department whereas classes for the NIFT started in the old municipal corporation building, which has been revamped for the purpose at an expenditure of over Rs 50 lakh. Both of these, however, are the temporary arrangements as the process of acquiring land near Karwad is under progress. After acquisition, it will take two years to complete the new buildings. IIT students, for the time being, are living at the AIIMS hostels and NIFT students are putting up at the Gaushala Sports Complex.
Before the classes began, a week-long orientation programme was conducted. Directors of both the institutions addressed students at the inaugural function.
