Chandigarh : Biographical drama "Ghalib" starring Bollywood veteran Tom Alter in lead drew in theatre lovers in good numbers at the second edition of the ongoing Chandigarh Theatre Festival here.
The production by Delhi's Pierrot's troupe, which opened the four-day festival on July 24 saw Alter bringing alive the writings of philosopher poet Mirza Ghalib at the festival being held at the renovated Tagore Theatre here.
This is the 33th production of the play by the Delhi theatre group headed by Sayeed Alam who is credited with rediscovering the genre of biographical drama with plays on Maulana Azad, K L Saigal and Begum Akhtar.
A self-confessed fan of Ghalib since childhood, 60-year-old Tom Alter says about the festival, "We want that people should buy the tickets and watch. This is essential for strong foundation of theatre."
