Mumbai : Miami-based Oceania Cruises has appointed Griffon Tours and Travels as its India representation with an objective to tap the Indian cruise market. Griffon will carry out marketing and promotions of Oceania Cruises on pan-India basis and will also undertake bookings for the cruise from its office in Mumbai.
Oceania Cruises currently has three mid-sized ships- Regatta, Insignia and Nautica which are operational, and will introduce two new mid-sized Oceania Class ships to its fleet each in 2010 and 2011.
Oceania Cruises sails to more than 180 ports in Europe, China and the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Central America and Caribbean. The company's goal is to provide an experience of the destination to its guests, rather than a mere visit, which is the reason behind the cruise ship staying overnight providing two days of exploration. The cruise has a guest-to-staff ratio of 1.71 to 1 which is one of the highest in cruise industry. The cabin sizes range from 165 sq. ft. to 1000 sq. ft.
Currently, Griffon is in the process of formulating the marketing strategy to be implemented in the Indian market. The marketing strategy will be directed towards creating awareness and promoting Oceania products within the travel trade, as well as end consumers.
Speaking with reporters, Vivek Jain, Managing Director, Griffon Tours and Travels and Representative - India, Oceania Cruises said, "The products of Oceania Cruises are targeted towards upper premium travellers and the itineraries offered range from eight to 20 day cruising packages across the globe. Furthermore, the company will also add two more cruise ships by 2011 which will certainly add advantage to the Indian market. In the next two to three months, we will look at marketing the products among our target audience. We also plan to introduce the Oceania Cruise Expert, an online training programme for trade members to familiarise them with the products. We are also in the process of setting our targets for this year."
