Agartala: At least five persons, including two women and a five-year-old child, were killed as heavy rain; storm and thundershower hit several parts of Tripura, uprooting electricity and telephone posts.
Two women farmers -- Suniti Das (32) and Sikha Sarkar(35) -- died on Jun 4 when lightning struck them in a crop field at Baishghar in West Tripura district, officials said.
Five year-old Chaiti Ahir was washed away in swollen streamlet at Lalchhari in Dhalai district on the same day, they said.
Shyamal Koloi (38) and his brother Sasish were electrocuted when they came in contact with a live electric wire which fell on their thatched house at Gamaibari in West Tripura district after storm on Jun 4, the officials said.
