Kohima: The Nagaland government has decided to hold the Northeast Agri Expo at Dimapur, the commercial hub of the state from November 23 along with the state government's 'Road Show' at its permanent site.
According to official sources here today, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has convened a meeting at Dimapur recently where the decision of holding the Agri Expo for five days, along with the Road Show, has been decided.
The meeting also decided to constitute a steering committee to be headed by the chief minister, a coordination committee to be headed by the agriculture production commissioner and principal secretary of agriculture, besides various sub-committees to be headed by senior officers from various government departments.
It further decided that works for the NE Agri Expo should be commenced immediately and all infrastructure works to be completed by October.
During the meeting, it was decided that the international exhibition pavilion to be constructed by the state bamboo development agency, tourism amenities centre adjacent to Agri Expo site to be completed and furnished for use during the Expo, correspondence to be immediately taken up with the Union Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and North Eastern Council (NEC) and other agencies for funding and chart to be worked out for completion of various works in a time bound manner.
The meeting also decided to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to inaugurate the Northeast Agri Expo, 2010 and some other Union Ministers to visit.
