Puducherry : Chief Minister of Pondicherry V.Vaithilingam announced during the Assembly on April 9 that teachers for government primary schools would be selected only on contractual basis.
"The teachers would be selected only for a period of 3 years. After the stipulated period of time, they would be regularised based only upon their performance," Vaithilingam said.
The decision to recruit teachers contractually was taken because many teachers did not prefer working in rural areas and also some teachers, after being directly recruited and joining, took leaves to join B.Ed courses.
