Agartala: Tripura University will confer an honorary D Litt on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at its annual convocation scheduled to be held on September here.
A formal invitation in this regard was recently sent to Hasina by the university vice-chancellor Arunoday Saha and the prime minister's office in Bangladesh has accepted the invitation and communicated it to the varsity, officials said. President Pratibha Patil will be the chief guest at the function, they said.
Tripura Governor D.Y. Patil, who is the rector of the varsity, met Patil at New Delhi recently and handed over the invitation which was accepted by the President, the officials said.
