Kohima : Even as it does not have the required numbers in Nagaland assembly, the opposition Congress is all set to field a candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in the state.
Party sources said it was almost sure that NPCC would contest the March 26 election, preferably by fielding a woman candidate. Although no official announcement has been made so far, party insiders said Imdangla Aier former president of Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee was tipped to be the candidate.
The ruling NPF-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) has already decided to re-nominate Khekiho Zhimomi to the upper house. His present term expires on April 2. In the 60-member Nagaland assembly, the ruling DAN has 40 MLAs while the Congress has 20 legislators.
