 New Delhi : Alchemist Hotels & Resorts (AHR), the hospitality arm of New Delhi-based Alchemist Ltd, plans to launch its first property, a mid-market hotel in Kufri, a hill station near Shimla, Himachal Pradesh by April 2011.
However, at the same location, AHR will come up with a luxury hotel which will be operational by April 2012. Both these properties will have a total room inventory of 100.
Besides this, the company plans to operate three hotels in Pushkar (Rajasthan), Chandigarh and Ropar by March 2013. For the same, the company has acquired lands at different locations and the properties are at various stages of development. These upcoming hotels will cater to mid-market and luxury segments. The approximate amount of investment for these projects is Rs 500 crore. In addition, the company is in negotiations for setting up properties in National Capital region (NCR), Mumbai and Goa.
Kushagra Nagrath, COO, Hotels & Resorts, Alchemist Hotels & Resorts said, "The upcoming property in Pushkar will be a luxury resort with 22 villas and properties in Chandigarh and Ropar will be mid-market business hotels, which will have 110 and 90 rooms respectively. The property at Ropar will have a large banquet and water sports facility, as the hotel will be located near to the banks of Sutlej River."
The average room rate for the mid-market hotel will be Rs 5,000 and for luxury resort it will be priced over Rs 20,000. All the luxury resorts will have spa facilities. The company is looking at tying up with international brands to run the spas. Informing about the hotel's brand, Nagrath stated, "These properties will be owned and managed by us. However, we are in the process of developing an in-house brand to operate these properties. We will develop two different brands for the mid-market and luxury segments. Currently in India, the home grown brands dominate the hospitality segment. The domestic brand enjoy the privilege of growing in every market be it in the metros and non-metros. With years of experience, the Indian hoteliers have become efficient in delivering world class products."
