Mumbai : The Indian rupee appreciated by 14 paise to 45.46 a dollar in the early trade on Mar 8, extending its rally for the sixth straight session, largely on continued capital inflows amid firming Asian currencies.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee strengthened by 14 paise to 45.46 a dollar. The domestic currency closed 21 paise higher at 45.60/61 in the previous session on Mar 5. Forex dealers said apart from continued capital inflows by foreign funds, dollar's losses against other currencies also helped the rupee rally.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by over 193 points or 1.13 per cent to 17,187.55 points in the opening trade on Mar 8.
