Railtour launches two new packages for Indian market

New Delhi : Swiss travel specialists, Railtour, represented by Switzerland Destination Marketing (SDM) in the Indian market, has introduced two new travel packages for the upcoming tourist season in the Indian market.

The new travel packages include: the three-city tour of Lucerne, Lugano, and Lausanne - three lakes and three cultures - package, known as the 'Golden Triangle' of Switzerland, and combination of snow mountain (Zermatt) and green mountain (Lucerne). The new travel packages will be valid for one year starting from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011.

Talking to reporters, Elisabeth Michel-Grutter of Head - Railtour said, "The Indian market is an important market for Railtour. We have always strived hard to offer something new to the Indian market. Our focus is mainly on FITs, families and honeymooners. We have been working closely with this market for the last 13 years. The three-city package and combination of snow mountain (Zermatt) and green mountain (Lucerne) package will be of huge interest for Indian travellers. The package will be an opportunity to experience both city and village life of Switzerland."

Commenting on the impact of global meltdown on Indian outbound to Switzerland, she said that the Indian market had shown resilience in 2009. "The visitor numbers increased almost four per cent points in 2009 compared to 2008. It started quite low, but recovered after June 2009. Railtour expects a growth of about nine per cent in the number of Indian visitors this year, as in the last few years there has been gradual increase in the average stay of Indian visitors," added Grutter.
