India's security arrangements of highest level: FIH

New Delhi : International Hockey Federation (FIH) chief Leandro Negre on Feb 25 said he has no complaints about security arrangements that are of the highest level. "The security arrangements made is of the highest level," Negre told reporters here.

"There are so many international players competing here and the you cannot take any chances with the safety and security of players. We will have to go by the security officials here because they are the best to advise you on the matter." Security has been a concern for teams like New Zealand and Australia after terror group Al Qaeda warned international athletes that they should visit India at their own risk. New Zealand and Australia, however, decided to come after assurance from Indian authorities on security.

The World Cup organisers have faced a backlash from the media as they have been kept out of the team's practice sessions. Negre, however, said that everything will be sorted out once the World Cup begins "The World Cup is very important not only for Indian hockey but also for FIH. We have to strike a balance and we are working to make it succcessful. There are issues but will be taken care of once the tournament start," he said.
