National president of All India Backward Association and RJD leader Indra Kumar Singh Chandrapuri requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene into the provision of quota for the dalits, backward and minorities in the proposed Women Reservation Bill.
After a meeting of the association, Mr Chandapuri told the newspersons here that a large chunk of dalits and women from the minority community were deprived of their due share. The passage of the Women Reservation Bill ignoring them would be like 'cheating' them, he said. Supporting the stand of RJD chief Lalu Prasad on the bill, he said for the overall development, such section of women should be included in the bill.
Astonished at the changed stand of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and senior JD (U) leader on the issue, he said Mr Kumar was ignoring them who had played a decisive role in his victory. Mr Chandapuri said the bill should be passed only after making a quota for the dalits, backwards and Muslim community women.
