BMW unveils two new variants

Chennai : German luxury car maker BMW on Feb 26 launched two new variants under the 3 series Sedan category here.

Announcing the national launch at a press conference here, BMW India President Peter Kronschnabl said the new 320d Corporate edition (Diesel) and the BMW 330i (petrol) were variants of the best selling BMW 3 Series Sedan. Manufactured at the company's plant here, the cars would be available across 17 dealerships in the country, he said.

The price (ex-showroom Chennai) has been fixed at Rs 33.40 lakh for the BMW 330i version and Rs 23.95 lakh for BMW320d Corporate edition, he said. Kronschnabl said the company would raise the number of dealerships to 22 this year with new outlets in cities like Goa, Indore and Ludhiana over the next few weeks. To a query, he said that the company hoped to maintain its double digit growth this year also. "In 2008 we sold 2,908 cars which grew by 24 per cent in 2009 to 3,619."

Declining to comment on sale targets of the two new variants for this year, he told reporters that the company's growth would be driven by the corporate edition. "Though 330i is available now, we think our growth will be driven by the Corporate edition variant", he said. "We hope we will be able to sell couple of hundreds of the car (Corporate edition)", he said.
