Averatec by Trigem has revealed a new netbook that could be the world lightest 10-inch netbook yet. The Averatec N1200 netbook will weigh just 2.2 pounds, measuring in at just under an inch thick.
The new Averatec N1200 netbook achieves these claims by using slimmer, lithium polymer batteries as well as 7mm hard drives .Those slim portions come with a loss of battery life, however, as when most netbooks are fighting into the 10+ hour range, the Averatec N1200 only serves three hours per charge on a standard battery. There is a larger battery option on the top model N1200.
The Averatec N1200 will be available in three options. All three shares an Intel1.66GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM, a 1.3MP camera and standard WiFi connectivity. Averatec N1200 is also equipped with 802.11b/g/n wireless, 2-USB ports, pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter, and packed with 2-cells battery (7.4-volts 3200mAh).
The new Averatec N1200 Series netbook features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and operating system options for either Microsoft Windows XP Home or Windows 7 Starter. For videoconferencing and video Web chat, the netbook includes a 1.3-megapixel webcam. Storage options include 160GB and 250GB hard drives and the N1200 comes standard with 1GB DDR2 memory which is expandable to 2GB of total system memory.
