Mumbai : A dispute between the partners of Suleman Bakery in south Mumbai, which became infamous following death of nine persons there in police firing during 1993 Mumbai riots, has landed in the High Court.
Petitioners Abdul Sattar Suleman Mithaiwala, Sadique Sattar Mithaiwala and Saeed Sattar Mithaiwala allege that officers from the Pydhonie police station are interfering in the family dispute. Petition alleges that other partners, including one Abdul Karim, are conspiring to grab the control of the bakery, and police are siding with the latter.
According to the petition, Saeed Mithaiwala was assaulted by his cousins, Amir and Zakaria, but Phydhonie police did not register offence in this regard. Division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Mridula Bhatkar on Feb 22 asked the partners to remain present in court on March 3, to see if the dispute can be settled.
