Aiming to encourage road safety awareness among the youth, the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, in collaboration with Autocar India, has announced a nationwide `Young Driver of the Year' contest.
Open to individuals aged between 18 and 30 having valid driving licences, the competition would test the participant's knowledge of traffic rules, awareness of road safety along with their real-world driving skill. After a series of three stages, the winner would be eligible to win an A-Star as the grand prize, while he will also be promoted as the ambassador of safe driving by Autocar and Maruti Suzuki. The competition would culminate by March 20.
In the first stage, participants will take an online theory test in the form of a quiz, where they will be tested on their knowledge of traffic rules, awareness of road safety and driving do's and don'ts. Those selected will take simulator tests at the 26 Maruti Driving Schools located across the country.
The top 30, who score highest in the simulator test round and a practical round of parking ability, will qualify for the grand finale.
