Mumbai : Malaysia-based Tune Hotels is gearing up to debut into the Indian hospitality business through franchise and management route by Quarter One of 2011. The maiden property of Tune Hotels is likely to come up in Hyderabad or Bengaluru.
This will be followed by Tune Hotels' expanding in Tier-II and Tier-III locations across India. While the hotel sites are yet to be finalised, initial properties will be located likely in and around Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, Pipavav, Raipur, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirapally. However, Tune Hotels will not be investing any capital to develop hotels in India. The company plans to expand in other key markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and the UK.
Elaborating on the brand's attributes Mark Lankester, CEO, Tune Hotels said, "Our limited service hotels offer a five-star experience at a one-star price by getting rid of full service extras (pools, spas, saunas, room service) that sometimes, guests do not need and should not have to pay. Through our affordable pay-as-you-use system of optional add-ons for energy-consuming facilities and amenities, we try to help guests conserve both their funds, as well as the earth's resources."
Besides this, Tune Hotels has entered into a strategic partnership with Apodis Hospitality Group, who will be investing and developing 20 properties across India by 2012. Tune Hotels is also open to strategic tie ups with other parties. "We perceive scope to develop 2,000 odd hotel rooms in association with Apodis Hospitality. Given the vastness of India and hotel market dynamics, we anticipate an opportunity to develop far more number of hotel rooms over the next decade, particularly in the mid-market segment. The product offerings are also likely to be tweaked (marginally) for compliance with Indian real estate regulations also keeping in mind specific requirements of the discerning Indian traveller," informed Lankester.
