Mumbai : KBJ Group, which recently announced its foray into the Indian hospitality sector, is also entering the charter services business. The Group has launched a subsidiary, KBJ Aviation Limited and appointed has appointed AeroSource (India) Pvt. Ltd. as its aviation consultant. KBJ Aviation has currently submitted its application for a license to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The company plans to start operations with three single engine Bell 407 helicopters. In the first phase, it will launch services in Varanasi, which will be followed by services in Punjab and Bodh Gaya. The company eventually plans to launch chopper services across the country. With the services in Varanasi, the Group plans to link the Buddhist destinations like Kushinagar. KBJ Hotels, the Group's hospitality arm is developing a hotel at Varanasi which will include a helipad. The Group expects to target the high-end clientele from both, Religious Tourism and Business Travel segments.
"There is great demand for helicopters and charter services in Tier-II and Tier III cities. It is also a highly under-supplied market with lack of quality service providers. We aim to develop the services for KBJ Aviation Limited to help them cater to the growing domestic and international demand. It will take at least six months to start operations," stated Vinod Singel, Managing Director, AeroSource (India) Pvt Ltd. While AeroSource India is currently working as a consultant, helping the company to attain licenses, it will further assist KBJ Aviation Ltd. in importing aircraft, their operations, management and marketing of services.
