Google Earth for Android 2.1 to hit markets

Google has announced the release of the latest version of Google Earth for handsets running Android 2.1. This version, which is expected to work flawlessly on the Nexus One according to Google, comes with a new "Raods" layer which was until now found on the desktop version of Google Earth.

Google adds that this latest version of Google Earth happens to be the most technically demanding version for phones yet and that the Nexus One should be able to run it smoothly - thanks to it's 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and 3D graphics support. The new version also supports Voice commands, which will allow users to navigate to a location on the map by just saying the name of the place.

Users can also browse photos, places, and businesses - just like on the desktop. Google Earth will be available in Android Market on most devices that have Android 2.1 or later versions. Even the Motorola Droid, which is set to receive the 2.1 Update, will be able to run this version without issues. If you happen to own a Google Nexus One or a device that has been updated to Android 2.1, head to the Android Market to get your own copy.
