Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in connection with a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
Sajjan Kumar could not appear before the court stating that his bail application is pending before the Delhi High Court and is fixed for hearing on Feb 19.
The court said neither any stay has been granted by the superior court nor any interim protection has been given.
Mere pendency of the bail application is no ground for exemption and the accused was duty-bound to appear before the court.
The court adjourned the case to February 23. The CBI had earlier filed charges against Sajjan Kumar and others in connection with the riots that took place in Delhi Cantt and Sultanpuri Area after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
