 Mumbai: After the Nano small car, Tata Motors has launched a complete range of ready-to-use municipal application vehicles catering to various civic services, the company announced here on February 8.
The fully-built vehicles would cater to requirements relating to areas such as health and sanitation, solid waste collection and transportation, town maintenance and water supplies - basic functions of any civic body from the village level to giants like Mumbai's municipal corporation.
The range consists of large and small vehicles capable of negotiating areas with either wide roads or narrow lanes, to enable the civic body provide services equitably in all neighbourhoods. Tata's range includes vehicles like hook loader, garbage compactor, dumper placer, garbage tipper, knuckle boom crane, tanker and air-conditioned ambulance.
Until now, Tata Motors was supplying only basic vehicle chassis to various local bodies and contractors, which were then developed as per their individual requirements. However, now this sector has become a focus area for the company, it said.
