New Delhi : A Delhi Court on Feb 6 framed charges against four persons for alleged forgery, cheating and other offences and for illegal phone tapping of former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh in 2005.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja charged Bhupinder Singh, Vijay, Kuldeep Singh and Anurag Singh under section 420 (cheating), 471 (forgery) and 120B (conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The CMM also found them prima-facie guilty of offences under the Indian Telegraph Act. With the framing of charges, the process for trial against the four accused persons is formally to start.
The court fixed July 19 as the next date for recording of statement of witnesses in the case. Earlier, the court had on January 22 reserved its order on framing of charges against the four accused. A case was registered by the Delhi Police Special Cell on December 30, 2005 after allegations that Singh's phone was tapped by some unscrupulous elements.
