Jaipur : WelcomHeritage, a joint venture between ITC Hotels Ltd. and H H Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur, has signed a management contract for Panjim Inn in Goa and Mukundgarh Fort in Rajasthan.
With this, the two properties will be managed by WelcomHeritage. Signing of the contract was recently held in the capital which was attended by Jack Ajit Sukhija, Partner, Panjim Inn; Julian R Groom, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, DB Hospitality; Maharaja Gaj Singh; Rakesh Mathur, President, WelcomHeritage; Pawan Verma, Senior Executive Vice President, ITC Hotel Division and other distinguished guests.
After the signing ceremony, Mathur informed that with the addition of the two properties WelcomHeritage now has 66 heritage properties under its heritage chain. Out of the 66 properties, the Group now offers 1,517 rooms and 120 tents which are operational. Talking about Panjim Inn, Sukhija said that Panjim Inn which is now operational offers 37 rooms and has three buildings i.e., the Panjim Inn, the Panjim Pausada and the Panjim People, which was classified in 1997 as the heritage hotel in Goa. Groom informed that Mukundgarh Fort in Rajasthan, owned by DB Hospitality, which is currently under renovation, will have 46 bedrooms, as well as facilities such as swimming pool and lawns for social functions. The property is likely to launch by April 2010.
Maharaj Gaj Singh Ji said, “The heritage sector has immense potential and nowadays more hotel chain companies are venturing into this sector. Heritage is an attraction and one of Indias USPs. Besides, the Group is now consolidating in terms of identifying new locations and properties into the Groups management and wants to maintain its position in this market.”
