Puducherry: Leading IT companies would set up a Software Technology Park (STP) at a 10-acre site at Kalapet near here soon, Union Minister of State for Planning, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture V Narayanasamy said on Jan. 1.
He told reporters here that the IT Ministry had approved Rs 100-crore grants to raise infrastructure facilities to enable these companies put their units in place. Detailed discussions on the project would be held with officials of the planning and IT ministries at the STPI office in Chennai on Jan 4, he said.
The Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC), an undertaking of territorial government, is the nodal agency to implement the project here.
