Lucknow: Polling for by-elections to four Vidhan Sabha seats have started on a slow note today as only 21.2 per cent voting was registered in the first four hours, election department officials said.
They said, "Till 11.30 AM, 21.25 per cent votes were polled in all four assembly segments, including Moradabad (west), Malihabad, Morna and Bidhuna. Barring minor complaints the polling had been peaceful so far." While 21 per cent votes were polled in Malihabad, 19 per cent voting was registered in Moradabad, 25 per cent in Morna and 20 per cent in Bidhuna, the officials said.
A total of 58 candidates are in the fray and the polling is being held at 1,184 polling stations spread over 793 polling centres having about 11 lakh electorate, they said.
