Mumbai: With an aim to test the popularity of Old Trafford in India, Manchester United Food and Beverage Asia (MUFB Asia) has decided to launch Manchester United Restaurant and Bar in Mumbai, India.
The restaurant and bar will promote Manchester United Football Club (MUFC). MUFB Asia, which has exclusive rights from MUFC to own, operate, franchise and develop a chain of Man U restaurants and bars in the Asia Pacific region, is planning to open its first flagship outlet in Mumbai.
The Singapore-based company is planning to open around 10 outlets within a period of two-three years in India.
Andy Yun, Chief Executive Officer of MUFB Asia said, “MUFB Asia has identified India as a high-potential market with a colossal Manchester United fan base estimated at 20 million. We are sure that even though cricket is the most popular sport in India, we will be able to build this brand and offer world-class cuisine and a stadium-like atmosphere during the screening of football matches.”
Yun said that the new Restaurant and Bar will be a full service, all-day dining restaurant that will offer Western cuisine and local specialities. However, the price range required to be paid by the customers, has not been disclosed yet. All Yun was willing to say is that it would be affordable.
The thematic outlet will have an area of 3,000 sq ft and can seat over 100 people at a time. Yun said, “In a city like Mumbai, 3,000 sq ft is a good size. However, in cities such as Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad we have plenty of scope for a bigger format spread over 10,000 sq ft.”
