 Mumbai: The Income Tax Department has filed a petition against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan over his foreign earnings as a brand ambassador for Swiss luxury giant Omega during 2002-2003.
An Income Tax commissioner has filed the an Income Tax commissioner against a December 2008 order of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), which allowed the actors appeal over a tax deduction dispute with the department, involving his income for 2002-2003.
SRK had declared an income of almost Rs 20 crore, including Rs 29 lakh as foreign income as Omega brand ambassador. The IT assessment officer said that the foreign expenses related to this income have to be calculated too and the actor cant be eligible for deduction as claimed by him under Section 80RR of Income Tax Act.
