Mumbai: India, the world’s second-largest pepper exporter, may register a 21% fall in shipments to 20,000 metric tons in the marketing year that started April 1 on higher local prices, according to a senior industry official.

Philip Kuruvilla, chairman of the All India Spices Exporters’ Forum said, “Unless the government introduces some subsidies, we will not reach the level achieved last year.”
