India Thrashed Sri Lanka To Reach Asia Cup Final |

The Indian cricket team has shown a much-improved performance on Thursday, than its previous match against Pakistan, as it has defeated the Sri Lankan team by a huge 6 wickets to enter the final of the ongoing Asia Cup. The Sri Lankan team got a competitive score of 308 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, while batting first in the match and it was the consistent partnerships that the Indians made in the match, helped them a lot to clinch the victory from 47 overs, after losing only 4 wickets. All the Indian top order batsmen like Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma have made their own contributions to the team`s victory.
The Sri Lankan team could not get a good start in the match, batting first, as they lost their first wicket, that of Kumar Sangakkara on the team`s total of 16 runs. The new pace bowling sensation of India, Ishant Sharma did well to get rid of dangerous Sangakkara in the 4th over. However, the Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene and the legendary opening batsman, Sanath Jayasuriya then made a good partnership of 56 runs, before Jayasuriya became the second victim of Ishant Sharma in the 12th over. The Sri Lankans then made two wonderful partnerships to get into a very good position in the match and the talented middle order batsman, Chamara Kapugedera played an important role in both the partnerships. All the Sri Lankan batsmen like Jayawardene (50), Kapugedera (75) and Chamara Silva (50) played some wonderful innings to help their team get the huge total of 308 runs from the stipulated 50 overs.
The Indians started replying to the target of 309 runs in a very good manner, as the two in-form openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag once again provided a solid start to their team. They put on a very good opening partnership of 92 runs from 12 overs on a briskly way and Sehwag (42) was the first one to go for India, when he became the victim of Nuwan Kulasekara. Suresh Raina then joined Gambhir on the crease and they put on a small but effective partnership of 43 runs, before Gambhir (68) got out to a wonderful delivery from Muttiah Muralitharan. However, Raina continued his good form in this match also and the Indian skipper, MS Dhoni did well to accompany Raina and they together added a very good 99 runs to the team`s total. Raina (54) got run out in the 36th over on India`s score of 235 runs, and then the left-handed stylish batsman Yuvraj Singh joined Dhoni on the crease. Though, Dhoni (67) could not stay longer and became the victim of Muralitharan in the 38th over, Yuvraj Singh (36) and Rohit Sharma (22) did well to remain unbeaten till the end and sailed their team`s innings to the victory land from 47 overs.
