Cutting Fluid Intake Can Reduce Overactive Bladder Symptoms |

The researchers of a recent study have suggested that if the people cut their fluid intake by 25 percent, there is a certain possibility for them to improve the symptoms of an overactive bladder (OAB). The researchers of the study have stated that the OAB usually causes a person to urinate frequently, often urgently and there may or may not be some leakage because of the urgency. The British researchers said that they have conducted their study with a view to investigate the way manipulating fluid intake can affect the OAB symptoms.
While talking about their study, one of the researchers said that they made a number of 24 people with the condition to increase or decrease their fluid intake from baseline for a period of four days in a row. They also made the study participants to alter with two days of normal fluid consumption and they found that cutting fluid intake by a quarter did lead to a 23 percent reduction in their urinary frequency, 34 percent less urgency, and also a 7 percent reduction in night time urination. The researchers found about 83 percent of the study participants to inform that the 25 percent fluid reduction was most helpful to them and when the study participants drank 25 percent or 50 percent more than they usually did, their daytime urinary frequency also did increase.
The researchers said that a person with a weight of 70 kg is required to have a fluid intake of 1.6 liters and the fruits and vegetables also contain a substantial amount of water and people that typically take in 300 to 500 milliliters of liquid from food daily. They added that the findings are actually confirming that the fluid manipulation is a cheap, noninvasive and easy way to help controlling the symptoms of OAB.
