Gony Replaced Injured Sreesanth For Bangladesh Tour |

The young and very talented fast bowler, who has shown a great performance while playing for the Chennai Super Kings team in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), Manpreet Gony has been selected for the Indian national cricket team, for the upcoming Bangladesh tour. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has recently informed the news and said that Gony is replacing the injured pace bowler, S Sreesanth in the team for the tri-series in Bangladesh. The board informed that Sreesanth has been struggling with a side strain at the moment and the team is about to leave for Bangladesh within the next two days.
While making the official announcement regarding Gony`s inclusion in the national squad, the Secretary of BCCI, Mr. Niranjan Shah said, "Due to non availability of Sreesanth, it was decided by the selection committee to send Manpreet Gony for Bangladesh tri-series". He added, "Sreesanth was assessed by Dr. Kinja at Bangalore on Friday. He has got a left-sided external oblique strain. He would require about 2 weeks for recovering from the current situation and getting back to his normal bowling routine".
The sources from the Indian cricket territory have informed that Gony is the third such player, who has got his rewards for showing brilliant performances in the IPL, apart from Yousuf Pathan and Pragyan Ojha. The Punjab-born Manpreet Gony has played only five-first class matches, so far in his career and he has claimed 17 wickets at an average of 26.05, in the 16 matches, that he played for the IPL runners-up Chennai Super Kings. While talking about the availability of Sreesanth for the team, Mr. Shah said, "He will be available for Asia Cup 2008 to be played at Pakistan. Mr. Sreesanth rehabilitation will be organized at NCA in Bangalore".
