Maruti Investing Rs 2500 Crore Further In India |

One of the largest automobile companies operating in India, the Japanese carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has recently announced that it is planning to make a huge investment of Rs. 2,500 crore in its India operations very soon. The officials of the company have stated that the investment would be made in Maruti`s plant in Manesar for trebling the plant`s annual capacity. The officials added that the new investment would also be used in order to fuel the expansion of the company`s diesel power train line at the same plant.
While talking about the company`s plans with the new investment, the Director (Marketing & Sales) of MSI, Mr. Shuji Oishi said, "The existing annual capacity at Manesar is 1,00,000 units, which will be scaled up to 1,70,000 units by the end of March". He stated that the plant would be having a capacity of 300,000 units, by the end of October, this year. He added that the company is actually planning to take the overall installed capacity in India between both its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon to over 9,00,000 units, eventually. He said that this would be the largest production of cars by any manufacturer in the country so far.
Another top official from the company has informed that the company is also thinking of increasing the capacity of its diesel power train line to 1,20,000 from the current 1,00,000 units, by the end of March. The official said that out of the total 1.72-lakh units of Swift sold till the month of January this year, 50,000 units are of the Swift diesel. The official also said that the company did commission the Manesar plant in the beginning of the year of 2007 and attained its full capacity within a few weeks. The MSI usually manufactures the cars like Swift, SX4 and the newly launched Swift Dzire from this plant and the company is also planning to manufacture the concept-A star and Splash in this plant.
