The legendary chess player of India and the current World Champion in Chess, Viswanathan Anand is playing wonderfully in the ongoing Morelia-Linares Chess tournament in Mexico. Anand is currently leading the point table solely after defeating the Hungarian Grand Master Peter Leko in the 5th round of the tournament. It was the third victory for the defending champion, Anand with black pieces in the tournament and he is really looking very solid at the moment to win the championship. However, he has not won a game with the white pieces yet in the tournament and this is really an unusual thing for Anand.
The Morelia-Linares Chess tournament is actually a category-21 double round-robin tournament being played in Mexico and Anand has showed his class once again in the match against Leko. He started with a great note to take the control over the match right from the beginning and he actually gave no chance to Leko to make a come back in the match. It was Anand`s wonderful planning that guided him to the victory land, while Peter Leko was the helpless spectator. At the present condition, Anand is solely leading the point table with 3.5 points and Aronian is following him a half point behind. The Grand Masters, Topalov, Shirov and Carlsen are sharing the third spot jointly with 2.5 points each. There are still nine rounds left in the tournament.
Among the other players of the tournament, the sensational chess player from Norway, Magnus Carlsen has also shown a stunning display of intelligence as he defeat the former world champion Veselin Toaplov of Bulgaria in the 5th round. Carlsen played an extremely rare Alekhine defense method while playing Topalov and it really did a great job for him. Carlsen has got his first victory in the event in this match and it was more glorious for him as he won the match with black pieces. The other chess players like Levon Aronian of Armenia and Vassily Ivanchuk drew their respective games in the tournament.
