Silver Bear Award For Udedh Bun At Berlin Film Festival |

The short films have bring yet another honour to the Indian film industry as a short film named Udedh Bun has recently won the Silver Bear at the 58th edition of the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival. The sources informed that the meaning of the name is `unravel` and the short film is directed by famous director Siddharth Sinha. The film was screened in one of the main official programmes at the festival named the `Berlinale Shorts Section`, and another 11 short films were also screened in that section. The films also included the short film named Three of Us by the Indian director Umesh Kulkarni.
While talking about the short film, one of the sources said that the 21-minute film does not have any dialogue and the story of Udedh Bun revolves around a young boy on the threshold of adolescence. The story depicts how the boy through his troubles both at home and in his school the boy makes a voyage of self-discovery. The organisers of the film festival have informed that Udedh Bun is given the Silver Berlin Bear for short film "for its modern narration". The three-member international jury of the festival also said that the film has a "sharp focus that relies on a harmony between images and sound rather than words,"
The director of the short film, Siddharth Sinha was looking very happy after receiving the award and said, "It came as a total surprise and I am quite delighted to receive it. It is excellent to start a film career by receiving such a great international recognition". According to the citation presented by the jury, "We are also sensitive to the new erotica brought to the traditional figure of the desired woman in the history of cinema". The jury also announced the Golden Berlin Bear award to the short film named A Good Day for a Swim by Bogdan Mustata from Romania. All the awards were presented to the awardees at a glittering ceremony where the festival director, Dieter Kosslick was also present.
