Drinking Tea Helps In Reducing Clogged Arteries In Women |

The researchers have found in a recent study that the women, who have the habit of drinking tea regularly, can benefit themselves while protecting from the development of artery-clogging plaque. The researchers said that the women could also lower their risk for heart disease and stroke by doing so. The French researchers of the study have found this after they studied a number of 6597 people including 2,613 men and 3,984 women.
While explaining the method of their study, one of the researchers said that they have analysed the ultrasound measures of carotid artery plaque of the study participants, during their study. All the participants were aged at 65 years or older and they were also having relation to tea drinking and other dietary habits. The researchers also obtained the medical and personal history of those people included in the study, while conducting in-person interviews from the year of 1999 to 2001. The researchers said that while conducting the study, they found the carotid plaques to be evident among 44 per cent of the female non-tea-drinkers. This was found to be evident in nearly 43 per cent of women who reported drinking 1-2 cups of tea daily and in only about 34 per cent of those who reported drinking three or more cups per day.
The researchers also elaborated their findings from the study and said that they noticed that the association between a fewer instances of carotid plaques and increased daily tea consumption did not have any relation with the other dietary habits. It was independent to the major vascular risk factors, age, area of residence and education as well. However, they did not include the information about the types of tea consumed or the duration of tea drinking among participants in this data and they said that they were surprised when they found no association between tea consumption and carotid plaques among the men. Thus, they came to the conclusion that the older women who drink at least three cups of tea a day, have a lower risk of developing plaque in the carotid arteries in their neck, if compared to those who drink less tea.
