Skoda India plans to introduce small car for around Rs 3 lakh

Skoda India is planning to introduce a small car for around Rs 3 lakh. The car is not as cheap as Nano but it is approximately as cheap as India`s top selling car Alto, manufactured by Maruti Suzuki.

Last year, the Czech car giant had launched it new Fabia 1.2 petrol version in three variants- Active, Classic and Ambiente, attractively priced from Rs 4,86,795 lakh to Rs 5,80,174 lakh.

It is said that the company will launch the compact car to be built on a completely new platform at the company`s headquarters in the Czech Republic.

According to sources, the Volkswagen India board has decided to launch two small cars, one from the VW stable and another from Skoda over the next 24-30 months. The technology for the cars have been finalised and now product development is underway.
