The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has started helicopter services in the Bhaderwah Valley to carry people to far spots, a step which is planned to attract the maximum number tourists in the valley.
This new helicopter service facility has made remote places like the Bhaderwah Valley appear closer for all. Just after the start of helicopter service, it is expected that Bhaderwah will soon be featured on the national tourism map. It will also mark the near completion of the phase one of the infrastructure projects planned in this region.
According to a media report, the state government has taken initiatives to develop this region as a major tourist destination by developing parks and allied hospitality services like accommodation and restaurants.
Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir added, "The main objective of the project is to showcase the tradition and heritage of Bhaderwah Valley."
A large number of tourists and tour operators are registering themselves to avail the helicopter services, which is definitely a positive sign for tourism in this region.
For those who wish to enjoy their stay here, makeshift tent accommodation has been arranged. Kashmir has been among the top Asian tourism destinations, particularly for the honeymoon couples, nature lovers, skiers and trekkers. In 2008, about 4, 30,000 tourists including 23,000 foreigners visited Kashmir, state official figures.
