Industries Department of Chandigarh proposes to set up food processing unit
The Industries Department of Chandigarh has again come with its proposal to set up a food processing unit in the Union Territory of Chandigarh under the centrally sponsored scheme. It has taken up the issue to the Union Ministry of Food Processing.

The Regional Centre for Agro Processing Development Society has mooted the idea, which sees vast scope for such units in the Union Territory.

Vandana Disodia, director-cum-general manager, District Industries Centre, Chandigarh, said that the proposal involved setting up of a food processing and training centre and strengthening of the nodal agency. The proposal seeks from the Central Government Rs 5 lakh for strengthening the nodal agency, Rs 5 lakh for meeting the needs of the staff and infrastructure and Rs 9.5 lakh for setting up a food processing and training centre.
