GM introduces LPG version of Chevrolet Spark in Mumbai

General Motors India has introduced the LPG version of Chevrolet Spark in Mumbai, which is environment friendly. The engine can also run on petrol in the absence of LPG.

The LPG version features premium beige interiors with a certified factory fitted next generation sequential injection type LPG kit, latest in terms of technology which is far superior to the venture-type LPG kit available in the market today.

Speaking on the occasion, Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, General Motors India said, "Launch of the LPG mode reiterates Chevrolet`s vision of moving towards environment friendly alternative fuels. We plan to continue to introduce variants of the Spark that target different groups of customers. This will enable us to achieve our goal of becoming a market leader in India by giving our customers the vehicles that they want when they want them."

The Chevrolet Spark LPG is offered in two variants- 1.0 LPS and 1.0 LLS. Both come with a certified, factory fitted LPG kit as well as the three-year/ 100, 00 km standard company warranty, which is industry first in the mini car segment.

GM has signed agreement with BPCL to open service outlets for our vehicles. Those outlets are called `V Care`. It will make the service centres available at BPCL dispensing stations as well. For the time being, they are operational at 10 points and the intention is to have 25 V Care outlets that are Chevrolet certified by this year end. This is a way of widening of our service network to reach out to our customers.

GM has invested over US$1bn in India for manufacturing cars and engines, design studio and R&D centre and will be expanding retail network. Company has two plants, one at Halol in Gujarat and other at Talegaon in Maharashtra. Both plants put together, GM India now has the capacity to produce 225,000 cars per annum.
