By-polls for three Punjab Assembly seats to be held on Aug 3

Chandigarh: The Election Commission announced the dates for by-polls for three Punjab assembly constituencies, which will be held on August 3. The three places where by-polls have to be conducted are Kahnuwan (Gurdaspur), Jalalabad (Ferozepur) and Banur (Mohali).

According to a spokesman of the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, the date of issuing poll notification is July 9 and last date for filing nominations is July 16.

On July 17, the scrutiny of nominations would be held and last date for withdrawal of candidature would be July 20 whereas date of poll has been scheduled for August 3, he said, adding the counting of votes would be on August 6.

The electoral rolls of the three assembly constituencies were published today. The model code of conduct will also come into force with immediate effect from today, he said.
